Position Title PEARLS Facilitator Position Number 897389 Position Category School/Division School of Medicine Department Full-Time or Part-Time Part-Time Description The PEARLS (Patient-centered Explorations in Active Reasoning, Learning, and Synthesis) facilitator provides guidance of self-regulated learning and team dynamics to groups of 8-10 to first- and/or second-year students with the goal of students' learning key concepts in biomedical science embedded in real patient cases. This is a part-time position requiring between 8-10 hours per week of student contact and faculty development. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Facilitates PEARLS throughout the academic year, as needed. Attends faculty development meetings for PEARLS facilitators. Reviews weekly formative essay exams submitted by students in the facilitator's group. Meets individually with students in the facilitator's group for mid-course feedback and as needed. Completes end of course student assessments. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications MD, DO, or PhD in biomedical science discipline. Three years' experience teaching medical students or other health professions students. Must demonstrate the ability to contribute to a multi-disciplinary educational environment and establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff, faculty, and students. Must have computing experience and proficiency with MS Word and Outlook. Preferred Quals Summary Experience with Learning Management Systems. Salary/Salary Range $100.00 per hour Additional Information Hofstra University provides the above salary• as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education. In addition to the salary offered, we offer a collegial and inclusive culture, and a benefits program which includes generous paid time off, paid holidays, tuition remission for employees and eligible dependents, and a retirement plan with University contributions. Salary ranges indicated for positions covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement are in accordance with the CBA.
