The Chief Academic Officer/CAO has the overall responsibility for the academic excellence and diversity at all levels. The Chief Academic Officer/CAO directly collaborates with the Faculty and Deans and Chairman of departments to oversee the overall academic operations of the university. The Chief Academic Officer/CAO develops and recommends policies governing faculty and other instructional personnel; provides impetus for the development of academic programs and maintains continuous evaluation. The Chief Academic Officer/CAO promotes and supports teaching excellence, exercises general supervision and responsibility for faculty governance, approves the appointment of all faculty members on the recommendations of the faculty, deans and Department Chairs. The Chief Academic Officer/CAO will perform the duties identified in the following categories: Academic Affairs Provides strong, dynamic academic and administrative leadership, fosters a collegial environment which encourages scholarship, teaching, and learning excellence Provide clear academic leadership for faculty and students. Provide academic advancement and faculty development. Administrate the programs and curricula of the colleges. Market the college programs and actively recruit students and faculty. Maintain appropriate accreditation and Licensor guidelines. Enhance the university's presence both locally and regionally. Acquire and allocate resources through fund raising and grants. Envision and build new programs within the overall mission of the college and institution. Possesses the vision to guide the university's academic programs into the future. Understands and appreciates the mission of University of Fort Lauderdale and is able to relate it to all constituencies; aids in making decisions consistent with the mission and goals. Advocates and promotes quality instruction, student success, integrated planning, and the expansion of Student Learning Outcomes to meet the educational needs of students in a diverse community college environment. Works with the instructional staff in development of the educational program, including the maintenance of standards and the evaluation of teachers. Plans, in coordination with other administrators and faculty, the schedule of classes. Provides leadership and oversight for enrollment management strategies, initiatives, and efficiencies. Provides oversight of assessment of Student Learning Outcomes and college-wide accreditation. Works effectively with community groups, educational entities, business, industry, government, and legislative bodies to develop partnerships which result in improved service to students and to the community. Provides guidance to and receives recommendations from the Faculty Senate and other representative organizations regarding the planning, implementation and review of academic programs, services, activities, and related matters. Participates in the planning of new facilities for the purposes of instruction and student services. Acts as the officer in the recruitment and selection of faculty, and to recommend to the President the employment of those selected. Understands and promotes the role and use of technology in the instructional environment. Prepares, submits, and monitors the annual budget for areas of responsibilities. Minimum Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications: An earned doctorate degree or its equivalent. Evidence of scholarly achievement, evidence of leadership experience appropriate to support the university's vision of academic distinction.

Salary Range:
