Responsibilities - What you'll do Plans/directs/coordinates specialized and/or general education program and services with an assigned area of responsibility Develops/assists in the development of program guidelines/procedures/operating policies Conducts needs assessments Evaluates program effectiveness and initiates changes to correct deficiencies Develops/implements/evaluates the educational program and services within the limits of established policies and procedures Prepares and maintains individualized educational plans and assigns students to classes based upon test scores and prior academic achievement Intervenes in crises and counsels students and necessary Explains programs to students Provides consultation/technical assistance/advise to the administrative staff regarding problems related to education Full and/or functional supervision, consultation, training to education staff Technical and supervisory direction in the implementation and adaptation of an education program in a state facility Assists in matters relating to the general administration of an education program Interviews prospective new employees and recommends selection; orients new employees; participates in evaluation of employee performance Assumes complete responsibility for an education program Plans/assists in planning a special school curriculum or follows state courses of study, making necessary adaptations to fit the facility and special group needs Evaluates/monitors/determines eligibility of program for reimbursement in accordance with federal and state statutes and regulations Directs or performs record-keeping functions including average daily attendance for state and federal funding Collects and prepares financial and program activity reports Participates, on a limited basis, in preforming specialized teaching functions Develops/coordinate/monitors community-based educational services and programs within the assigned scope of responsibility Prepares budget documents and monitors expenditures Keeps informed of new developments and techniques in the area of specialization Maintains community contacts with affiliated groups and makes public appearances before community groups and news media Receives general supervision from an administrator but is expected to exercise considerable independence and initiative in the performance of assigned duties Performs other related duties as assigned Qualifications - All you need for success

Minimum Qualifications:

Three or more years as a Vocational Education Instructor, or Educator (Teacher) within the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System; OR Five or more years of professional experience in corrections case management, probation and parole case management, library management, mental or behavioral health, education, substance use, guidance and counseling, or related field; AND two or more years of managerial experience in corrections, probation and parole, library management, social services, education, mental or behavioral health, substance use, guidance and counseling, or related field. (Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university, that includes credit hours in education, library science, psychology, sociology, corrections administration, or related are, may substitute for up to four years of the required experience, at a rate of 30 credit hours for one year - one year of professional experience, and two years of managerial experience is required) All requested documents MUST be received by the closing date listed. Job Details - More reasons to love this position Contingent upon your position, you may also be eligible to receive: A $2.00 per hour shift differential if you are assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am and are employed at a 24/7 congregate care facility (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center). A $1.00 per hour restrictive housing differential if you are assigned a regular post within a restrict housing/segregation unit at any facility.
