The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience. Bed Board Controller position is responsible for managing bed assignments and ensuring proper patient placement. The candidate will work closely with all floors throughout the hospital to ensure patient flow. Candidate will be responsible for managing all bed assignments, admissions and registration including direct admissions, newborn baby registrations, dialysis patients, and NPC Admissions. The employee will maintain accurate documentation and record all information. As Bed Board Controller a typical day might include the following: Performing supervisory duties in the absence of the manager including the coordination of staffing for appropriate coverage Orienting /training the staff and new hires in the absence of the trainer making sure policies are adhered Maintaining excellent communication with physicians, clinical teams, and environmental services to ensure timely patient placements, discharges, and addressing all issues delaying processes Updating all Advance Directive information appropriately into the system, ensuring that all fields were reviewed and Advance Directive is channeled through all the proper areas Maintaining daily records to access financial resources to properly code/update accounts Verifying benefits, obtain pre-certification, pre-authorization, referral and second opinions for all services where applicable Maximizing the efficiency and effectiveness of patient placement, ensuring the optimate usage of inpatient bed resources Maintaining accuracy of bed board system and complete daily reconciliation to ensure appropriate bed assignments and accurate accommodation types Utilizing bed tracking system to indicate the status of the bed, including the tracking of clean and unclean beds and isolation rooms Reviewing all assigned patients to ensure timely movement of patients; escalate transport delays or cancellations Taking initiative within work responsibilities, providing feedback, or suggesting improvements that can make a difference for quality, safety, or service excellence Maintaining high level of accuracy and quality in accordance with the department's established goals The Bed Board Controller role might be for you if: You communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, families, and healthcare professionals You stay organized and can effectively manage multiple priorities You enjoy coordinating schedules and solving challenges You are detailed-oriented You respond in timely manner to all office and schedule inquiries You work collaboratively with team members You are comfortable using electronic medical systems, including EPIC To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a High School diploma and equivalent. With one 2-3 years' experience in a hospital patient registration setting. With 1-3 years in census management assigning beds experience. Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office and proficient computer skills in medical terminology. Familiarity with office equipment such as copiers and fax machines. Must demonstrate willingness to learn. Full Time from 7:00am-8:00pm, Monday-Friday with every other weekend and holiday. Bilingual preferred.
