Position:

The Career Exploration Teacher provides engaging, standards-based instruction that empowers middle school students to explore their interests, strengths, and future career opportunities while developing the knowledge and skills needed for success in high school, college, careers, and life. Through career awareness, career and technical education (CTE) exploration, academic connections, and social-emotional learning, the teacher prepares students to make informed decisions regarding high school course selection and career pathway opportunities. The Career Exploration Teacher fosters a learning environment where students develop self-awareness, career readiness, problem-solving, collaboration, and goal-setting skills while connecting classroom learning to real-world experiences.

Qualifications:

All applicants must possess or be eligible to possess a Delaware teaching license and certification in any area, grade or content Preference will be given to teachers holding a middle school or secondary level certification in any content area

Performance Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based Career Exploration instruction aligned with Delaware Middle Grades Career Exploration Standards and district curriculum. Foster student self-awareness by helping students identify their interests, strengths, values, skills, and future goals. Guide students in exploring career clusters, occupations, industries, and postsecondary education and training opportunities. Prepare students to make informed high school pathway decisions by introducing Career and Technical Education (CTE), college preparatory, military, and workforce options. Connect academic learning to real-world careers through project-based learning, career research, hands-on activities, and problem-solving experiences. Teach and reinforce employability skills, including communication, collaboration, leadership, professionalism, critical thinking, creativity, and responsible decision-making. Integrate career readiness, financial literacy, digital literacy, and workforce skills into daily instruction. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, social-emotional, and developmental needs of all learners. Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, curiosity, and respect for diverse perspectives and career interests. Utilize instructional technology and career exploration platforms to enhance student learning and career planning. Assess student progress, analyze data, and adjust instruction to support student growth and achievement. Collaborate with school counselors, teachers, administrators, families, business and industry partners, higher education institutions, and community organizations to provide meaningful career exploration experiences. Coordinate career awareness activities, including guest speakers, career fairs, field experiences, workplace learning opportunities, and industry partnerships. Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues regarding student progress and educational opportunities. Maintain accurate student records, instructional documentation, and reports in accordance with district and state requirements. Participate in professional learning, collaborative planning, and school improvement initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or district administration.

Terms of Employment:

Ten-month (10) full-time employee.

Performance will be evaluated annually according to the Board's policy on professional personnel evaluation.
