The ideal candidate will use engaging instructional strategies to develop students' critical-thinking, problem-solving, and inquiry skills across both social studies and science. This individual must be committed to academic excellence, effective classroom management, and creating an inclusive learning environment where every student can succeed. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with applicable academic standards and the school's curriculum. Deliver effective instruction in social studies and science using technology, hands-on activities, collaborative learning, and other research-based teaching strategies. Differentiate instruction to accommodate students' individual learning needs, abilities, and learning styles. Prepare students for required assessments, standardized testing, and Advanced Placement coursework, when applicable. Evaluate student progress through formative and summative assessments and provide timely, meaningful feedback. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, assignments, and academic progress. Establish and consistently enforce classroom expectations that promote a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, academic concerns, and achievement goals. Collaborate with school leadership, teachers, and support staff on curriculum planning, interdisciplinary projects, and schoolwide initiatives. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, school activities, and other assigned responsibilities. Use student performance data to adjust instruction and provide appropriate intervention or enrichment. Support the mission, values, policies, and expectations of Icon Preparatory School. Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferred; alternatively, at least three years of relevant teaching experience in a public or private K-12 school setting. Previous experience teaching middle or high school students is strongly preferred. Knowledge of social studies and science content, curriculum development, instructional planning, and student assessment. Strong classroom and behavior-management skills. Ability to provide differentiated instruction for students with diverse academic and learning needs. Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and school leadership. Experience working in a private or independent school is a plus. Proficiency with classroom technology and digital learning platforms is preferred. Must successfully complete all required background screening and employment-clearance requirements.
