Duties Design and implement comprehensive social studies curricula aligned with state standards and program requirements. Develop lesson plans that incorporate instructional design principles, educational technology integration, and differentiated instruction to meet varied learning styles. Utilize classroom management strategies to foster an inclusive, respectful, and engaging learning environment for teenagers. Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, standardized testing preparation, and ongoing feedback. Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects, curriculum development, and instructional best practices. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student performance, behavior management strategies, and academic advising. Incorporate research skills, literacy education techniques, and library services into lessons to enhance critical thinking and inquiry-based learning. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Sciences, or related field; advanced degrees or certifications in education or linguistics preferred. Valid Georgia teaching certification (required), 6-12 Social Studies (preferred) Proven classroom experience teaching middle school students in social sciences or related subjects such as history or geography. Strong knowledge of curriculum development, AP style writing, Chicago Manual of Style standards, and copy editing techniques. Experience implementing IT- integrated lessons using educational technology tools and learning management systems. Experience with project-based or experiential learning preferred A collaborative mindset and genuine investment in an emerging school community Demonstrated ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and special needs students. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to plan lessons effectively and manage classroom behavior proactively. Familiarity with educational compliance regulations, standardized testing protocols, and assessment strategies. Exceptional communication skills for working with students, parents, colleagues, and administrative staff.
