Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This role offers an exciting opportunity to inspire students in grades six through eight, fostering a love for reading, writing, and critical thinking. The ideal candidate will bring energy, creativity, and a commitment to academic excellence, ensuring each student develops strong literacy skills and a lifelong appreciation for language arts. You will be instrumental in designing engaging curricula, implementing innovative teaching strategies, and supporting students' individual learning needs in a vibrant educational environment. Responsibilities Develop and implement comprehensive ELA curricula aligned with educational standards and tailored to diverse student needs. Design engaging lesson plans that incorporate creative writing, journalism, and literacy education techniques to enhance student learning experiences. Utilize learning technology tools effectively to facilitate interactive lessons and foster digital literacy skills. Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, including standardized testing preparation and ongoing formative assessments. Provide mentorship and support to students, encouraging academic growth, positive behavior management, and social-emotional development. Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional design, and integrating research-based practices such as Chicago Manual of Style standards and linguistics principles. Maintain organized classroom environments that promote active participation, classroom management, and respectful communication among students. Engage in professional development opportunities related to higher education teaching methods, private school best practices, or Montessori approaches as applicable. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or related field; advanced degrees or certifications preferred. Proven classroom experience teaching middle school students with a focus on literacy or language arts. Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment strategies.
