Job Description
A photography instructor in the Department of Arts and Humanities must be prepared to teach a full range of lower-division photography courses to include digital and darkroom applications. This position also supports general education with Photography Appreciation courses.
This is a one-year position with no guarantee of continuing employment beyond the 2026-27 academic year.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach a minimum semester credit load (15-16 hours) of courses (or equivalent) in accordance with the descriptions published in the CSI catalog. Devote a full-time work week to the institution, maintain appropriate office hours as determined by college policy, and bring to the attention of the immediate supervisor any conditions which might affect employment.
Devise and utilize outcomes assessment measures.
Participate fully in all departmental, program-level, and college-level assessment activities.
Meet all scheduled classes promptly with any deviation being filed promptly and accurately through the appropriate channels.
Provide current copies of course syllabi to chairperson each semester.
Monitor student placement in courses and student progress; maintain accurate records.
Interact with and advise students.
Participate in faculty development to improve professional effectiveness including the August Learning Lab as well as a first year on-boarding process. Participate in instructional evaluation processes.
Attend department meetings and committee meetings as appropriate.
Recommend textbook adoptions in collaboration with other faculty in the department.
Promote and help with learning assistance services.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills:
Master's degree from an accredited institution in the subject area, or a closely related field.
