Permanent, 10 Month Position\nNature of Work\nPerforms difficult professional work providing a broad range of teaching services or specific learning program, assisting students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed as a foundation for future learning in accordance with each student's ability, using a variety of teaching and learning methods at various levels to a targeted audience, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Principal.\nQualifications and Licensure\nAll lead teachers must hold, or be working toward an applicable North Carolina (NC) Standard Professional Educator's License\nTeachers that hold an Out of State License must apply for a license with the NC Department of Public Instruction\nTeachers working toward the required education and licensure shall hold a minimum of a BA/BS degree from an accredited college/university\n

Essential Job Functions:

\nModels, implements and assesses strategies related to learning, social, emotional and behavioral needs to enhance educational programming for all learners.\nFollows district guidelines, regulations and best practices to ensure a safe and age appropriate environment that promotes learning.\nPromotes effective interpersonal relations and engages in continuing professional growth activities.\nMaintains student confidentiality.\nIntegrates research into the design of best practice.\nConsults site Administrators regarding best practices for classroom and building education programs.\nIdentifies and selects different instructional resources, materials, and methods to meet students' varying needs with fidelity.\nPlans, prepares and delivers schemes of work, and lesson plans with instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.\nImplements a schedule that meets required regulations.\nEstablishes and communicates clear objectives for all learning activities. Prepares the classroom for class activities. Instructs and monitors students in the use of learning materials and equipment. Uses relevant technology to support instruction. Observes and evaluates student's performance and development. Assigns and grades class work, homework, tests and assignments.\nCompletes ongoing assessments and collects artifacts.\nProvides appropriate feedback on work. Prepares required reports on students and activities.\nManages student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.\nMaintains discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school, and applies appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary. Performs certain pastoral duties including student support, counseling students with academic problems and providing student encouragement. Participates in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations. Participates in department and school meetings as well as parent meetings. Communicates necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.\nFollows policies, procedures, standards and rules in accordance with federal and state laws, which includes, but is not limited to, developing and maintaining proper and adequate records and documentation, and submitting required documents and forms by established timelines.\nPerforms other duties as assigned by the supervisor.\nPhysical Requirements (if applicable)\nThis work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force. Work regularly requires speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions, frequently requires sitting and occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting. Work has standard vision requirements. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, and operating machines.\nSpecial Requirements (if applicable)\nStrong background in North Carolina Course of Study/Common Core and Essential Standards.\nMust demonstrate leadership.\nMust establish a respectful environment for a diverse population of students.\nMust work collaboratively with the families and significant adults in the lives of their students by improving communication and collaboration between the school and the home and community.\nMust uphold the Code of Ethics and Standards for Professional Conduct.
