Job Description Summary:
The University of La Verne is a private not-for-profit university founded in 1891 located in La Verne, California. The Department of Modern Languages is seeking a part-time instructor of French, to begin August 17, 2026. The position will entail teaching an elementary French language course each semester (French 100 - Fall 2026; French 101 - Spring 2027), either as regularly scheduled classes or directed studies. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate evidence of teaching excellence and a sensitivity to and respect for diverse populations.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Master's degree in French or a closely related Humanities discipline is required, as is native or near-native fluency in French and English.
Preferred Qualifications:
College-level teaching experience and familiarity with current communicative, proficiency and/or task-based methodologies are highly desirable; preference will be given to candidates who can furnish evidence of strong teaching.
