This position is in Walkerton, IN, just 20 miles Southwest of South Bend and 15 miles Northwest of Plymouth. The WLTPL is a Class C Public Library which serves a population of approximately 3,000.The WLTPL is an Evergreen Consortium and of Indiana Digital Library. The library was built in 2018. The Director is responsible to the Board of Trustees for the operation and management of library services and general administration. The Director will be expected to engage in public outreach and maintain professional relationships with State agencies, local government, schools, civic organizations, and other community entities. The Director will promote public program services, work with the public, and directly participate in developing, promoting and facilitating programs and events. The Director is responsible for selecting and ordering books and materials, working with the board to prepare the annual budget, preparing reports and expenditures, and managing a small, part-time staff. Duties Oversee collection management, including cataloging, MARC21 standards (Machine-Readable Cataloging), digital resource management, and archives processing to ensure accurate and accessible collections. Develop and manage the library budget, including grant proposal writing to secure funding for new projects and resources. Lead staff supervision, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities for librarians, archivists, and support staff. Coordinate library instructional services such as information literacy instruction for reference services and library services aimed at diverse user groups. Manage online resource databases, social media platforms, and digital tools to promote library programs and resources effectively. Oversee reference services by supporting database searching for research assistance and resource description & access standards to optimize resource discoverability. Plan and implement projects related to digitization initiatives, metadata standards, and resource sharing to enhance access to archival materials. Ensure compliance with intellectual property law and archival standards while maintaining high-quality data collection, research support, and customer service. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree. Ability to obtain Indiana Public Librarian Certification 4 (LC4) within three (3) years of hire Significant experience in library services, including leadership or administrative roles, typically with at least five years of managerial experience. Strong knowledge of current library technologies, trends, and best practices.

Preferred Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree with 15 college credit hours in Library Science, and library experience.
