Job Description

Library Director, Parker Memorial Library (Dracut) The M.G. Parker Memorial Library is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Library Director. This full-time, 35-hour, contract position is appointed and overseen by the Board of Library Trustees. The Library Director serves as the department head responsible for leadership, administration, and management of all library operations, including staffing, budgeting, facilities, collections, technology, and community engagement. The Director ensures compliance with Massachusetts General Laws, Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC) requirements for library certification and State Aid, Town bylaws, and professional library standards. The position works collaboratively with the Board of Library Trustees, Town administration, local and regional library organizations, and community partners. The Library Director provides strategic leadership and overall administration of the M.G. Parker Memorial Library. The Director oversees library services, programs, operations, staffing, budgeting, and community engagement to ensure high-quality, accessible services for residents. Work includes planning, implementing, and evaluating library services; developing the library's collection and technology infrastructure; and promoting a welcoming, inclusive environment. The Director ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies, including those of the Board of Library Trustees, Massachusetts General Laws, Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC) regulations, and relevant Town bylaws. Qualifications
  • MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution
  • Minimum three years of progressively responsible public library experience
  • At least one year of supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of MBLC regulations, public library principles, and modern library technologies
  • Strong leadership, communication, budgeting, and organizational skills Full/Part Time Full Time Education MLS/Masters Salary Range $71,617.
