Library Media Specialist Job Description
JOB GOAL
The Library/Media Specialist oversees and manages an effective and successful media center and supports teachers in providing rigorous, high quality instruction and support for our students.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree or higher Valid North Dakota teaching license School Library Media Certificate (or willing to obtain)
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Shares expertise and promotes the library program. Aligns the School Library Program to school, state and national program standards. Develops and implements program goals and objectives that are aligned with school and district long-range strategic plans. Prepares, and justifies the school library program budget as appropriate. Establishes processes and procedures for selection, acquisition, circulation and resource sharing so as to ensure resources are available when needed. Maintains and curates the collection to maximize student interest and relevance to the school curricula. Creates and maintains a school library media center that is inviting, safe, flexible, and conducive to student learning. Selects and uses effective technology for management purposes. Encourages the use of instructional technology to engage students, improve learning, and provide 24/7 access to digital information resources for the entire learning community. Motivates and guides students to read for enjoyment and understanding. Provides resources in support of curriculum and student interests. Teaches information ethics, including safety, responsibility, copyright, fair use, licensing, and appropriate attribution. Teaches information and digital literacy. Teaches the evaluation of resources in all formats so that users can assess credibility, relevance, and currency. Helps students build on prior knowledge and construct new knowledge, inspiring them to embrace the world of information and all its formats. Collaborates with teachers to provide instructional support using library resources. Develop and deliver library programs that support student learning and extend engagement opportunities to families and community partners. Remains professionally current in terms of skills, knowledge, and the evolving role of the school librarian.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
This position constitutes a certified position with the Stanley Community Public School District.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
Base Salary:
$53,800 (depending on experience)
Fringe Benefit:
$11,369
Personal Days:
4 per year
Sick Days:
10 per year
