Youth and Teen Programming Specialist Works to provide library services and resources to children and teens with consideration of the interests and needs of the community and library patrons. Job Responsibilities Duties include but are not limited to:
Reporting to the Library Director
Plan, facilitate and work to grow attendance of all youth and teen events
Organize, plan and facilitate summer and winter reading programs for youth and teens
Plan passive programming for youth and teens
Plan and facilitate Storytimes for a variety of age groups
Consideration of safety of all patrons within the library and at library events
Develop and maintain the library's youth and teen nonfiction area
Represent the library at community events as needed
Work with the Content Marketing and Grant Specialist and Library Director on public relations efforts and promotion of all youth and teen events, activities and programs
Promote the library and library events within the community
Work to build a strong relationship with Mohawk School to further promote library programs and resources and improve community literacy
Work to build strong relationships with community partners that may have an impact on youth and teens within the community
Work at circulation desk and complete daily staff duties which include but are not limited to packing and unpacking cargo, assisting patrons, shelving materials, answering the phone, maintaining tidiness of the library, straightening, and reading shelves (This may include assigned times of coverage at the circulation desk)

Ability to professionally represent the library to the public
Ability to maintain a professional working relationship with coworkers
Ability to pass required background checks
Availability to work all library shifts including evenings and Saturdays
Understanding of computers and common office equipment
Knowledge and understanding of library policies, services, and programs
Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills and organizational skills
Ability to meet deadlines
Strong attention to detail
Open to receiving feedback
Ability to make decisions and to work independently in a wide variety of situations
Ability to employ independent judgment and initiative in assigned areas
