Job Description

Summary:

The Library Clerk assists with daily library operations, helping patrons locate materials, checking books and materials in and out, shelving items, and maintaining an organized, welcoming library environment.

Qualifications:

Essential Duties:

Check library materials in and out using the library system. Assist patrons in locating books, materials, and using library resources. Shelve returned books and maintain order in stacks. Process new books and materials for circulation. Answer phones and provide basic information to patrons. Assist with inventory and weeding of library materials. Help prepare displays and assist with library programs as needed. Perform other clerical tasks, including filing, making copies, and data entry.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. Basic computer and data entry skills. Good customer service and communication skills. Ability to organize and shelf materials accurately. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in a library setting. May require standing, bending, and lifting books or materials up to 25 pounds.
