GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Principal, the Math Interventionist will provide math intervention to K-5th grade students with demonstrated skill deficits in math. The Interventionist will plan and intervention lessons in small groups. In coordination with the instructional team, the Interventionist delivers instruction that will enable students to grow significantly throughout the year in foundational math skills. Additionally, the interventionist will be an instrumental partner in the PLC process, understand student skill deficit areas, have a strong understanding of the MLSS framework and SAT process, and be able to identify multiple high-yield strategies in numeracy, fact fluency, and number sense to close achievement gaps.

QUALIFICATIONS

Valid New Mexico Level II Teachers License

Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience

Demonstrated expertise in Math

Knowledge of curriculum and instruction and educational interventions

Demonstrated ability to work with staff, teachers, and administrators

Ability to work in a multi-task environment

Effective oral and written communication skills

Knowledge of Professional Learning Communities Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan and small group instruction in foundational math for students demonstrating gaps in achievement

Participate in PLCs

Develop intervention goals for SAT plans in the MLSS framework

Provide data and resources to teachers on student progress and growth

Communicate and demonstrate research-based instructional practices that improve student performance and classroom environment.

Assist teachers with designing instructional decisions based on assessment data and culturally responsive practices.

Provide support in analyzing student assessment data. Support, implement, and assess various instructional programs and program effects on student achievement. Ancillary Job Functions Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of curriculum and subject matter.

Assist teachers with specific classroom activities when requested.

Develop resources for Tier 2 interventions within classrooms when needed.

Participates in building action planning to work toward school goals.

Manage time and schedule flexibility that maximizes teacher schedules and learning.

Work positively toward meeting identified district and building improvement goals.

Assist with the development of district curriculum, instruction, and assessments.

Attend workshops/conferences to learn about new innovative instructional strategies.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrates effective skills in planning and organization

Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills Adheres to all health, safety, and sanitation policies of the school district and notifies the proper authorities when repairs or replacements are required to maintain established standards

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 25 pounds), reaching, squatting, kneeling, and moving light furniture may be required
