Mathematics Instructor Essential Job Functions:
- Lead in design and implementation of project-based math curriculum.
- Collaborate with other faculty members to create cross disciplinary learning experiences
- Guide and nurture under-credited high school students in an accelerated, relationship-based, and trauma-informed learning community.
- Incorporate recovery-focused language and thinking within our learning community
- Operate with restorative language and trauma-informed leadership within classroom and campus community.
- Supervise students safely and continuously throughout the school day.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and controlled classroom environment.
- Respond appropriately to student behavior, emergencies, and safety concerns.
- Exercise sound judgment and decision‑making in real‑time situations.
- Communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively with students, staff, and administrators.
- Remain alert, attentive, and able to perform duties without impairment.
- Perform all duties reliably, consistently, and without posing a safety risk to self or others.
- Assisting with school‑wide safety protocols.
- Build strong rapport with students and families
- Differentiate lesson plans and activate lesson scaffolding based on IEPs as well as academic, attendance, and behavioral interventions
- Coach students in online STEM courses and credit recovery courses
- Support Executive Director in establishing productive programming partnerships geared toward the holistic needs of our scholars, including presentations, meetings, or events with outside organizations
- Partner with the leadership team to ensure appropriate delivery of both special education instruction and related services as stipulated on IEPs/504 plans, including referrals for mental and behavioral health needs.
- Co-lead and co-plan college and career courses, including postsecondary planning sessions with students, including scheduling/attending college tours, applications, resumes, essays, and financial aid; additionally supervising and monitoring progress in all Act 158 requirements for a cohort of students, including internships, certifications, and service learning
- Participate in school fundraising initiatives or events as needed
