Get paid to be a positive influence in children's lives! The Chico Area Recreation & Park District is hiring energetic, responsible, and fun individuals to join our team! As an After School Program Recreation Leader, you'll work alongside Chico Unified Administrators as a group leader with students in grades 1-5, assisting with academics and leading structured activities in a safe, engaging environment. Average shift times are 2pm-6pm, and located on all 12 CUSD Campuses. We are looking for permanently placed Recreation Leaders who work Monday-Friday, and substitutes who work as needed on a flexible schedule, At least three days of availability preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Independently supervise, manage, and support a group of 15 students. Provide academic support to students by helping with homework and reading. Plan and lead fun recreational and educational activities. Be a positive role model and ensure a safe, inclusive environment.
Who We're Looking For:
Experience working with children (ages 5-11 preferred). Reliable, responsible, energetic, and enthusiastic. Strong group management skills and able to work independently with a group of 15 children. Great for college students or anyone passionate about youth development!
Employment Dates:
This position is scheduled to work on days when Chico Unified School District elementary schools are in session. The 2026-2027 school year runs from August 13, 2026 through June 3, 2027.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, approx. 2:00-5:45 PM Set 5-day schedules available Substitute positions also available ("on-call," flexible days)

Elementary schools throughout
Chico Pay & Benefits:
Seasonal, $16.90 - $17.00/hr Employees will recieve 40 hours of sick leave per year accrued at 2.8hrs per pay period. All unused hours are rolled over on January 1st up to a cap of 80 hours.
