In person Job DescriptionOverview Do you seek a job where you get paid to PLAY? We are seeking a caring, energetic, and dependable TK After-School Program Lead to join our team. This position is specifically focused on working with Transitional Kindergarten (TK) students and requires someone who understands the developmental needs of young children. The ideal candidate is patient, nurturing, organized, creative, and confident leading a classroom of young learners. As a TK Lead, you will be responsible for creating a safe, structured, engaging, and welcoming after-school environment while leading age-appropriate enrichment activities, supervising students, and supporting their social-emotional and academic development. ResponsibilitiesTK Classroom Leadership & Activity Planning Lead and supervise a group of Transitional Kindergarten (TK) students during the after-school program. Plan and facilitate developmentally appropriate activities specifically designed for TK-aged children. Create engaging activities that incorporate art, movement, music, literacy, sensory play, games, and hands-on learning. Develop weekly activity plans aligned with program goals and student developmental needs. Provide a consistent daily routine and structured environment that helps young children feel safe and successful. Align activities with the Quality Standards for Expanded Learning (QSEL) and support academic, social, emotional, and physical development. Provide age-appropriate academic support and reinforce skills students are learning during the school day. Supervision, Safety & Behavior Management Maintain appropriate supervision and ensure the safety and well-being of TK students at all times. Follow required staff-to-student ratios and program safety procedures. Support students with transitions, routines, sharing, communication, emotional regulation, and positive peer interactions. Use positive and age-appropriate behavior management strategies. Follow all program safety protocols and reporting requirements, including mandated reporter obligations. Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming classroom environment. Family Communication Build positive and professional relationships with parents and guardians. Provide families with appropriate updates regarding their child's participation, progress, behavior, or any concerns. Maintain professional and respectful communication with all families. Quality Standards & Program Compliance Implement activities in alignment with the Quality Standards for Expanded Learning (QSEL) , including safe environment, supportive relationships, engaged learning, skill building, and healthy choices. Participate in ongoing program quality improvement and self-assessment processes. Follow all program policies, procedures, attendance requirements, and documentation expectations. Monitor daily student attendance and ensure students are properly checked in using their program badges. Collaboration Work closely with program supervisors, assistants, and other activity leaders to provide a consistent and high-quality program. Provide direction and support to classroom assistants when applicable. Collaborate with school faculty and program leadership to reinforce classroom expectations and student learning. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, quality reviews, and special events as required. Documentation & Student Support Observe students' participation, behavior, social development, and progress. Maintain accurate attendance and program records. Document incidents, injuries, behavioral concerns, or other notable observations according to program procedures. Communicate concerns promptly with program supervisors and follow established reporting procedures. Qualifications Spanish-speaking candidates are strongly preferred . High school diploma or equivalent required. College coursework or a degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, Recreation, or a related field preferred. Previous experience working with TK, preschool, kindergarten, or early elementary-aged children strongly preferred. Experience leading a classroom or group of young children is highly desirable. Understanding of early childhood development and the social-emotional needs of children ages 4-6. Experience leading a group of 10-20 children. Familiarity with the Quality Standards for Expanded Learning (QSEL) or experience in expanded learning programs strongly preferred. Strong classroom management, leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Must be patient, dependable, nurturing, energetic, and comfortable taking initiative. Ability to communicate professionally with children, families, school staff, and coworkers. Creativity and enthusiasm for developing engaging activities for young children. First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification may be required. Schedule Part-time position, typically Monday to Friday during after-school hours (e.g., 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM). Additional hours may be required for staff meetings, training sessions, quality reviews, and special events.
