Compensation:

$40 per session, depending on experience About the Role We're looking for an engaging and dependable Gardening & STEAM Instructor to lead two back-to-back after-school classes for elementary students in Napa. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with children and bringing science to life through hands-on gardening, nature-based learning, experiments, and simple STEAM activities. Lessons may include plant science, soil, ecosystems, sustainability, observation, basic engineering, and other interactive projects connected to the natural world. Responsibilities Lead two engaging, age-appropriate Gardening + Science classes each Tuesday. Teach hands-on lessons related to plants, ecosystems, soil, sustainability, and basic STEAM concepts. Guide students through experiments, observations, planting activities, and simple projects. Encourage curiosity, teamwork, problem-solving, and responsible care of materials and garden spaces. Adapt activities to different ages and skill levels. Prepare lesson materials and supplies before each session. Maintain a safe, organized, and well-managed learning environment. Communicate professionally with school staff and program coordinators. Submit brief after-class session reports and maintain timely communication with the program team. Requirements Experience working with elementary-aged children. Interest or experience in gardening, environmental science, biology, STEAM, outdoor education, or a related field. Comfortable leading hands-on activities and simple science demonstrations. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Dependable, organized, patient, and professional. Ability to commit to the full Tuesday program schedule from September 15 through November 3, 2026. Ability to complete required TB clearance and background check before beginning the assignment. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience teaching gardening, science, STEAM, or environmental education. Experience with school gardens, nature programs, farms, camps, or youth enrichment. Background in education, biology, environmental science, horticulture, sustainability, or a related field. Familiarity with inquiry-based or project-based learning. Pay:
