Job Description

Position:

After-School Program Support Staff Reports to: Executive Director at the

McGlynn Center Hours:

Part-time (15-25 hours a week)

Schedule:

2:30-5:30 PM (hours may vary) The McGlynn Center, a year-round program, provides educational, recreational and social outreach services to children and teens living in Boulevard Townhomes and Mineral Springs Village, Wilkes-Barre. Providing a safe environment during high-risk hours, the Center challenges students academically and socially with a goal towards a productive future.

Job Summary:

The McGlynn Center Program Specialist works directly with children and youth living in Wilkes-Barre Housing Authority (WBHA) low-income housing properties. This role provides children and youth with support of academic and social development. This position helps students achieve academic success by assisting in completing homework, reading, and special projects. Key requirements of the role include: Support children in our After-School Program with their homework and reading every afternoon Assist with the management of daily snack and food distribution for children/families Use positive behavior management techniques and appropriate consequences/behavior modifications to children as needed Promote safety in the supervision of the children, teens and volunteers Attend regular staff meetings, training and workshops as required Be aware of and follow all applicable policies and regulations Perform other duties as assigned
