The successful candidate will join a professional organization dedicated to student success. They will be expected to perform duties customary to an elementary teacher in grades 6-8. Those duties include preparing lessons toward mastery of the state standards, collaborating with other faculty, small group instruction, differentiating instruction and providing interventions, working with administrators and coaches to improve performance, monitoring students, and collaborate and communicate with parents and other stakeholders. Developing and administering assessments is also required. Teaching virtual students may be required. An active TN teaching license is required for the applicable grade and subject level or the ability to obtain a TN teaching license. Attendance is an essential function of the job.

JOB GOAL
The responsibilities of a junior high educator are: creating lesson plans, differentiating instruction, instructing students according to the state standards, organizing and managing the learning environment, monitoring student progress and providing interventions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in education
Hold appropriate Tennessee certification license
Demonstrated organizational skills
Effective decision-making and verbal and written
communication skills
Be highly qualified in this area
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the School Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Description:
Junior High School Teacher 1. Provide an instructional program that is differentiated. 2. Commitment to high student achievement & support for all students. 3. Knowledge of the subject matter being taught. 4. Ability to exercise various teaching strategies to increase students' critical thinking skills. 5. Create a secure classroom climate and respond to inquiries from a variety of sources. 6. Instruct students for the purpose of improving their success in academics through a defined course of study. 7. Administer and develop subject specific assessments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans. 8. Participates in a variety of meetings and professional development activities for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions. 9. Monitors students in a variety of educational environments for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment. 10. Prepares a variety of written materials to document student progress and meet mandated requirements. 11. Plan, develop, implement, and monitor with student success as your goal. 12. Use available technology in your lessons. 13. Communicate effectively with parents and students. 14. Perform other duties as assigned by the administration.
Working Environment:
This job is performed in a standard office environment and in a generally clean and healthy environment. Generally, the job requires 30% sitting, 20% walking, and 50% standing.
Physical Requirements:
Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity.
