THIS IS AN AT-WILL POSITION.
Use the Job ID based on the Position Location as follows Location Job ID 4000 Morikami Park Road, Delray Beach 35506 Assists in the planning, acquisition, preparation, display, and maintenance of exhibits/collections in a museum of Japanese culture, art, history, and horticulture. Develops, enhances, and evaluates museum exhibits/collections focusing on the art/material culture of Japan. Collects, researches, and classifies items of Japanese material culture; explains the function of these items to staff, volunteers, and visitors verbally and in writing; conducts related research. Sustains public and private partnership relationships; represents the institution on behalf of its further advancement at meetings and conferences. Applies knowledge of grant development skills and museum principles/practices supported by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM) and Japanese history/language/culture. Work is performed under the general direction of the Museum's Chief Curator/Deputy Director and is reviewed through periodic conferences/written reports.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires qualified applicants to possess one of the following: A Bachelor's Degree in one of the Humanities with major coursework in Asian studies or Japanese history, language or culture; minimum of two (2) years of experience in museum work, OR An unrelated Bachelor's Degree; minimum of three (3) years of experience in museum work, OR An Associate's Degree in one of the Humanities with major coursework in Asian studies or Japanese history, language or culture; minimum of four (4) years of experience in museum work, OR Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of six (6) years of experience in museum work.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include: Experience as a Curator of Japanese art at an AAM-accredited museum (must specify on application) , Experience with collecting/researching/classifying Japanese material culture; developing grants/fund-raising, Experience working in a museum with a budget of $5M+ (must specify on application) , and Master's Degree in Museum/Japanese Studies.
