We are launching Vivid Horizon LLC , a specialized brand division dedicated to mobile animal encounters, educational roadshows, pop-up zoological exhibits, and interactive community programs.

An Exciting Growth Chapter:

As part of a major multi-division restructuring starting Fall 2026, this position will begin as a Part-Time 1099 Independent Contractor role in mid-October 2026, with a seamless, planned transition into a Permanent W-2 Employee position in January 2027 upon the full facility and USDA Class C Exhibitor launch. We are seeking a passionate, detail-oriented Associate Curator to lead hands-on animal care, oversee behavioral training, assist with USDA licensing setup, and deliver engaging educational programs. Position Overview The Associate Curator will play a hands-on, vital role in establishing and maintaining animal housing, health, and behavioral training protocols for our mobile animal encounters and pop-up experiences. You will work directly with our animals at our care facility, while enjoying administrative flexibility from home. This role requires 3-4 days per week on-site at our animal care facility in Linden, NC , combined with opportunities to work from home for administrative, compliance, and scheduling tasks.

Key Responsibilities Hands-On Animal Care & Husbandry:

Provide daily, direct care for our animals—including specialized feeding, health checks, habitat maintenance, sanitation, and enrichment.

Animal Training & Handling:

Implement positive reinforcement training protocols to prepare animals for safe public encounters, transport, and educational presentations.

USDA Class C Compliance:

Assist in preparing documentation, inspection readiness, and compliance tracking for our USDA Class C Exhibitor licensing.

Safety & Welfare Protocols:

Draft and enforce daily care logs, safety protocol manuals, emergency mitigation plans, and animal transport procedures.

Educational Program Delivery:

Lead interactive pop-up exhibits, educational roadshows, and touch-tank/encounter programs, ensuring safe and engaging animal-visitor interactions.

Logistics & Team Coordination:

Coordinate event transport schedules and supply inventory, working alongside on-site crew members during pop-up event activations.

Qualifications & Skills Experience:

1-3 years of hands-on experience in animal care, husbandry, positive reinforcement animal training, veterinary support, or exotic animal handling.

Regulatory Knowledge:

Familiarity with USDA Class C Exhibitor guidelines, animal welfare standards, and safety compliance is a strong plus.

Communication:

Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills for leading educational roadshows and managing visitor interactions.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, handle animal transport crates, and perform active, physical animal care duties outdoors/on-site.

Reliability:

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to our facility in Linden, NC, and surrounding event locations.

Pay:

From $11.00 per hour
