Graduate Research Assistant-Sustainable Agr and Rural Advncmt The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley - 4.2 Edinburg, TX Job Details $1,500 a month 1 hour ago Qualifications Faculty collaboration Driving Full Job Description Location Edinburg, Texas College College of Sciences Department College of Sciences/ Sustainble Agr & Rural Advncmt Division Provost - Academic Affairs FTE 0.5 Scope of Job To assist staff, faculty, and Project Manager in the research needs of the Sustainable Agricultural and Rural Advancement Center (SARA) related projects/program's purpose, activities and tasks. Coordinates project programing to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities and tasks are carried out in accordance with specified objectives. Must be able to coordinates the various activities of the projects/programs including outreach, trainings, technical assistance, and the creation of informational materials regarding cooperatives, businesses, and farm and ranch operations. Helps coordinate long and short-term programs, including performing feasibility studies. Drafts brochures, letters, and agendas. Develops, plans, and creates social media communication and campaigns related to the project/programs. May plan, develop, organize, and coordinate research and survey designs. Which can include data collection, processing, and analysis and evaluation of data. Dissemination of findings through publication of YouTube videos. May assists others in writing and developing proposals for funding grants. Attends meetings, conferences, and seminars related to the project's/program's mission and goals. Helps supervise and organize seminars, conferences, and presentations. Provides appropriate reports as required for the projects/programs to Project Manager. May provide support in the coordination of general community and school gardens and related small-scale farm plots and farm site demonstration sites in an agricultural environment. Discipline Specific Required Qualifications Ability to interact in a professional manner with faculty, staff, students and the public. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrate interpersonal skills. Independent decision making and problem-solving ability. Must demonstrate effective project promotion skills, and the ability to develop and maintain strong working relations with internal and external agencies and entities. Project/program may require ability to drive a car for local or distant travel for client consultation, training, meetings or small-scale farming on site demonstrations. Must be able to bend, stoop, reach and lift for retrieving/maintaining files and for setting up multimedia equipment. Preferred Qualifications Business, Life Sciences, Communications, Public Affairs, Social Work, Sociology or other Agriculture-related field. Bilingual/Spanish proficiency preferred, but not required.
