Music Instructor School of Rock East Brunswick Part Time | Approximately 5 to 25 Hours Per Week School of Rock East Brunswick is looking for energetic, reliable musicians and music educators to join our teaching team. Our instructors teach everything from AC/DC to Zappa while helping students build real musicianship, confidence, and a lifelong love of music. We're looking for instructors who can create a fun, positive, and challenging lesson environment while connecting with students of different ages, experience levels, and musical interests. This is more than just teaching students how to play songs. Our instructors help students understand their instrument, develop strong fundamentals, set goals, and become better musicians. What You'll Do Music Instruction Teach engaging private music lessons based on each student's goals, ability, and musical interests Teach proper technique, music fundamentals, theory, and musicianship in addition to songs Prepare thoughtful lesson plans and document student progress and assignments Challenge and inspire students while keeping lessons fun and productive Prepare students for participation in School of Rock rehearsals, performances, and other programs Participate in ongoing School of Rock training and development Student and Parent Experience Build positive relationships with students and families Communicate regularly with parents about student progress, goals, and areas for improvement Be visible, approachable, and engaged while working in the school Recognize when a student may need a new challenge or could benefit from another School of Rock program Help create an environment where students are excited to come to lessons each week Being Part of the Team Work closely with the Music Director and other instructors Assist with rehearsals, school events, and performances when needed When cancellations create downtime, be willing to help with rehearsals, basic school upkeep, or other music program needs Contribute to a positive, professional, and collaborative school culture What We're Looking For Strong proficiency on your primary instrument Teaching and/or professional performance experience is welcomed, but not required . We provide comprehensive School of Rock training and resources for musicians who are newer to teaching A solid understanding of music fundamentals and a willingness to continue learning The ability to connect with students across a wide range of ages, personalities, and skill levels Strong communication and people skills Reliable, organized, and able to maintain a consistent teaching schedule Patient, enthusiastic, flexible, and positive Comfortable receiving feedback and working as part of a team Good judgment and professionalism Formal music education is a plus, but not required. If you're a strong musician who loves music and enjoys working with people, we encourage you to apply even if you don't have formal teaching experience. We can help teach you how to teach.
