The faculty members will have the opportunity to teach a range of Philosophy classes. This position is part of a collective bargaining unit.

The successful candidate will appreciate teaching in a multi-cultural environment and will welcome the opportunity to work with students with diverse learning abilities. Faculty duties include classroom, laboratory and clinical instruction, assessment, curriculum development, advising, professional inquiry, committee work, and utilizing instructional technology.

Teaching assignments may include various delivery modes, such as face-to-face, online, hybrid, and/or blended formats during days, evenings, and weekends. Montgomery College has multiple campuses, and faculty may be assigned to teach in-person at any of these campuses and teach online.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Faculty members are expected to teach a variety of Philosophy courses offered by the discipline and may teach in another discipline depending on qualifications.
Faculty may be asked to teach early morning, evening, weekend, off-campus, remote, or online courses.
Faculty members teach 30 semester hours per academic year. Opportunities may exist for faculty to teach summer courses.
Faculty duties include serving on department, campus and collegewide committees, advising students, providing leadership to student clubs, maintaining an active program of professional development, and participating in professional organizations and activities.

Required Qualifications:

\nMaster's degree in Philosophy or closely related field. Graduate coursework must include courses that reflect both depth and breadth in Philosophy.\n
\nExperience or professional development training on working with a diverse student population.\n
\nExperience or professional development training on effective technology use in the classroom.\n
\nProficiency with and ability to use a Learning Management System (LMS) and other web-based instructional technology to facilitate learning in a web-enhanced environment.\n
\nFaculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus). Montgomery College (MC) provides an MC e-mail account and access to the learning platform, password-protected faculty sections of the website, college listservs, and other faculty communications tools.\n
