Category Schools - Adaptive Physical Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract role as an Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher, supporting K-12 students with diverse abilities in a vibrant educational setting near Anaheim, CA. This full-time position, starting as soon as possible and extending through February with the possibility of renewal, offers the chance to provide meaningful impact to a manageable caseload of approximately 10-15 students. You will design and implement adaptive physical education programs tailored to individual needs, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure each student's access to specialized physical education services.
Your Background Includes:
Valid teaching certification in Adapted Physical Education Experience working with K-12 students with varying physical and cognitive abilities Strong knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to adaptive PE Proven ability to conduct thorough assessments and write comprehensive, legally defensible reports Excellent collaboration and communication skills with teachers, therapists, and families
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and adapt PE curriculum to meet the individual needs and IEP goals of each student Assess students' abilities and document progress using clear, comprehensive methods Create engaging, inclusive, and safe PE experiences for all participants Maintain accurate, timely records and contribute to IEP meetings Foster positive relationships with students, staff, and families to support student growth This exciting, student-focused opportunity opens the door to making a real difference while gaining valuable experience across a range of grade levels.
