Desired Qualifications & Experience:
Valid teaching certification in Adaptive Physical Education (APE) or Physical Education with an APE endorsement Previous experience working with students requiring adaptive services, preferably within a school setting Strong communication skills for collaborating with teachers, parents, and support staff Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) Understanding of current best practices in adaptive movement, motor skills, and wellness for diverse learners Creative problem-solving abilities and a compassionate approach to student differences
Core Responsibilities:
Design and deliver adaptive PE lessons tailored to students' individual abilities and IEP goals Assess and document student progress, making necessary adjustments to support ongoing achievement Collaborate with educational teams to integrate adaptive activities within the broader curriculum Foster a safe, motivating, and inclusive class atmosphere Maintain accurate records of student attendance, engagement, and progress Provide guidance and resources to classroom staff and families on best practices for supporting physical education for students with disabilities This fulfilling contract position is based at schools near Morgan Hill and San Jose, CA, where your contributions will make a tangible difference each day.
