Long-Term PE Teacher Benjamin School District 25 West Chicago, IL Job Details $292 a day 1 day ago Qualifications Sports and outdoor activities Teaching Certification Learning styles adaptability Instructional adaptability Professional Educator License Accommodations in instruction Experience teaching physical education Parent-teacher conferences (communication methods) Full Job Description Summary Benjamin Middle School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to serve as a Long-Term Substitute Physical Education Teacher, approximately from January 4, 2027 through February 25, 2027. This role is essential to maintaining the quality of our physical education program and providing a positive, engaging learning environment for students. Key Responsibilities Plan and implement age-appropriate physical education lessons that align with the school's curriculum and state standards. Create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation Assess student progress Manage classroom behavior effectively to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all students. Collaborate with other educators and staff Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school administration regarding student performance and any concerns. Supervise students during physical education classes and other related activities to ensure their safety and well-being. Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities as required. Maintain equipment and facilities used for physical education classes. Requirements Valid Illinois teaching license (PEL) Strong knowledge of physical education principles, sports, and fitness activities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students. Ability to adapt lessons and teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Current CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
Preferred:
Experience teaching middle school. Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or a related field. Current CPR and First Aid certification. Employment Information Salary and benefits are determined in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Performance will be evaluated in accordance with District procedures and the collective bargaining agreement.
