JOB GOAL
The Wellness Teacher fosters a love of learning and movement that encourages student curiosity, engagement, and growth in a welcoming community of learners. The teacher provides learning experiences that engage students in all aspects of physical education and social-emotional learning guided by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, National P.E. Standards, district standards and requirements.
QUALIFICIATIONS
Education:
Bachelor's and/or Master's degree from an accredited college/university in a related field
Professional Certification:
MA DESE licenses: Physical Education K-8 and Health Education (K-12) Additional certification in special education and/or ESL preferred
Specialized Knowledge:
child development, curriculum frameworks, growth mindset, inclusive practices, cultural proficiency, anti-bias instruction, social-emotional learning
CORI, SORI and Fingerprinting:
All appointments are conditional based on a satisfactory CORI, SORI and SAFIS Background Check per 603 CMR 51.00.
Preferred Experience:
Experience teaching English Language Learners in a diverse setting Experience teaching students with special needs, including students with emotional, behavioral, and/or learning challenges Highly desirable to have experience with: Adapted Physical Education Co-Teaching Inquiry-based instruction & Project Based learning Second Step Responsive Classroom

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Health, Wellness and Physical Education Teacher does not have supervisory responsibilities for other staff, except to direct any paraeducators who may be assigned to his/her/their classroom.

Salary, benefits, and responsibilities per contract between the Westborough School Committee and the Westborough Education Association.
