A major facility loss created prolonged construction, reduced usable space, disrupted classrooms, declining enrollment, financial pressure, regulatory complexity, and an extended recovery process. The right candidate will bring humility, steadiness, curiosity, accountability, and hope. This individual must be willing to learn from the center's history without becoming trapped by it, help turn hard-earned lessons into stronger systems, and understand that rebuilding requires both compassion and disciplined execution. Bright Beginnings does not expect the Director Trainee to rescue the organization or carry its recovery alone. Leadership is shared, support must be reciprocal, and sustainable improvement requires a capable team. The trainee will, however, be expected to become an active and dependable participant in the center's next chapter. Position Summary The Early Childhood Education Center Director Trainee participates in a structured leadership-development program designed to prepare a qualified early-childhood professional for increasing administrative and operational responsibility within a licensed childcare facility. Working under the authority and supervision of Bright Beginnings' Founder and CEO or designated facility director, the Director Trainee will learn how to lead not only during periods of stability, but also through recovery, organizational change, regulatory demands, financial constraints, and continued growth. This role requires far more than completing paperwork or managing a daily schedule. The Director Trainee must learn to see the entire center: the infant who requires responsive care, the teacher who needs coaching, the parent depending on us to remain open, the classroom that must meet health and safety standards, the record that must withstand regulatory review, and the budget that must support all of those responsibilities. The trainee will assist with daily operations, regulatory compliance, curriculum, staff development, family engagement, enrollment, facility safety, financial administration, CACFP, community relationships, and continuous quality improvement. The position also plays an important role in helping Bright Beginnings move from prolonged recovery toward stability, accountability, growth, and renewed excellence. The successful candidate will understand that compassion and compliance are not competing priorities. Protecting children requires both. Bright Beginnings needs a leader who can care deeply while documenting accurately, communicate kindly while maintaining boundaries, support employees while holding clear expectations, and honor the organization's history while helping it evolve. This is a developmental position. It does not, by itself, authorize the employee to act as Bright Beginnings' Arizona Department of Health Services-designated facility director or director's designee. Any such designation may occur only after Bright Beginnings has verified that the employee independently satisfies all applicable qualifications and has completed the required documentation, competency development, and formal approval process. Organizational Recovery, Stabilization, and Growth Because Bright Beginnings is actively rebuilding, the Director Trainee will develop practical experience in organizational recovery and change management. Under the direction of senior leadership, the trainee will: Help stabilize daily operations while facility rehabilitation and organizational improvements continue. Support safe coordination between classroom operations, maintenance activities, contractors, inspections, and regulatory requirements. Help minimize disruption to children, families, and employees when classrooms, schedules, entrances, or operational procedures must change. Communicate changes calmly, accurately, and promptly to the individuals affected. Assist with restoring enrollment and rebuilding family and community confidence. Help identify operational gaps created or exposed during the center's prolonged recovery. Convert informal knowledge into written procedures, checklists, calendars, training materials, and accountability systems. Strengthen systems for licensing documentation, staff credentials, attendance, supervision, incident reporting, purchasing, maintenance, and family communication. Track assigned recovery tasks, responsible parties, deadlines, required documents, and unresolved items. Maintain organized records that demonstrate the center's actions, progress, and compliance. Help leadership distinguish immediate safety concerns from longer-term improvement projects. Participate in corrective-action and continuous-improvement efforts without assigning blame or concealing problems. Escalate delays or barriers that could affect child safety, licensing, staffing, enrollment, finances, or continued operations. Help prepare classrooms and operational systems for licensing inspections, quality assessments, accreditation activities, program reviews, and internal audits. Assist in rebuilding materials, supplies, learning environments, and program resources that were lost, depleted, or disrupted. Support responsible cost control while recognizing that safety, legal compliance, and children's essential needs cannot be compromised. Help develop sustainable practices so the organization does not remain dependent on crisis-based decision-making. Protect confidential information concerning personnel, families, finances, insurance, construction, regulatory matters, and legal proceedings. Avoid discussing unresolved legal, financial, insurance, or personnel matters with unauthorized individuals. Represent the organization truthfully and professionally without minimizing its challenges or defining it solely by those challenges. Contribute ideas for responsible program expansion, specialized learning opportunities, community partnerships, and diversified revenue. Help Bright Beginnings become operationally stronger, more financially sustainable, more supportive of its employees, and better prepared to serve future generations of children. The Leadership Standard Bright Beginnings needs leadership that is present, observant, responsive, and willing to follow through.
