This role is fully accountable for enrollment growth, parent engagement, financial performance, team leadership, and overall center success. The Director serves as the principle point of contact for the Owner. This role provides an opportunity to drive meaningful impact on the lives and education of school-aged students and their families. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Operations Oversee daily operations of the center, ensuring efficiency and excellence Hire, train, coach, schedule, and evaluate center staff Manage teacher performance, staff scheduling, and labor efficiency Maintain a professional, organized, and welcoming learning environment Ensure compliance with Sylvan standards, with particular attention to student safety and well-being Sales & Enrollment Growth Own enrollment growth and lead the full sales cycle from inquiry to enrollment to client maintenance Conduct parent consultations, center tours, and enrollment conferences Review student assessments and present personalized learning plans to families Promote financing and payment options, and confidently close enrollments Ensure all phone calls, online inquiries, and walk-ins are handled promptly and professionally Meet or exceed monthly sales, revenue, and expense targets Financial Management Track and manage center financial performance (P&L, collections, expenses) Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive continuous improvement Manage accounts receivable and ensure timely collections Instructional & Parent Engagement Work with, develop, and motivate tutors to ensure strong instructional quality Support student assessment processes and progress tracking Conduct ongoing parent conferences and progress meetings Ensure exceptional customer experience and retention Marketing & Community Outreach Develop and execute local marketing initiatives to drive new enrollments Conduct school visits and build relationships with local school administrators and counselors Engage with community groups and parent organizations Support social media and digital marketing efforts to increase brand awareness Hire, train, coach, schedule, and evaluate center staff Manage teacher performance, staff scheduling, and labor efficiency Maintain a professional, organized, and welcoming learning environment Ensure compliance with Sylvan standards, with particular attention to student safety and well-being
Required Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree
Leadership & Management:
3+ years of experience hiring, training, and managing direct reports (instructors, tutors, or front-desk staff)
Sales & Revenue Generation:
Demonstrated track record in consultative sales, membership sales, or customer acquisition, with proven ability to convert leads into enrollments
Operational & Financial Acumen:
Experience managing day-to-day site operations, scheduling, and inventory, with working knowledge of basic budget management or P&L statements
Communication & Parent Relations:
Strong interpersonal and de-escalation skills to build trust with parents, schools, and community partners
Technology:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort navigating CRM and other center-management software
Availability:
Flexibility to work standard center operational hours, including peak afternoon/evening shifts and weekends, as needed
Preferred Qualifications Educational Background:
Degree in Education, teaching credential, or prior professional experience as an educator, school counselor, or school administrator — providing pedagogical knowledge to evaluate student needs, communicate credibly with parents, and coach instructional staff
Industry Experience:
Prior leadership or supervisory experience within commercial supplemental education (e.g., Mathnasium, Kumon, Sylvan, Huntington, C2 Education) or child-centric enrichment franchises
Community Outreach:
Hands-on experience with local grassroots marketing, school outreach, or community event coordination
Digital Marketing:
Familiarity with basic digital marketing and social media management to raise local business awareness Salary Range Base $50,000 to $60,000 per year plus Bonus (based on performance metrics)
