Childcare Center Director Position Overview We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and dedicated Childcare Center Director to lead our early childhood education center. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to creating a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment where children can thrive. This role requires exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills, along with a passion for fostering high-quality care and education. The Director will oversee all aspects of center operations, staff management, curriculum implementation, regulatory compliance, and family engagement. Key Responsibilities1. Leadership and Center Management Provide visionary leadership to create a positive, collaborative, and inclusive culture for children, families, and staff. Develop and implement strategic goals aligned with the center's mission. Lead, mentor, and supervise teaching and administrative staff, ensuring accountability, support, and professional growth. Ensure appropriate staff-to-child ratios are maintained at all times in accordance with state regulations. 2. Curriculum and Program Development Oversee the design and implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum. Ensure consistent and effective use of the Frog Street curriculum , supporting holistic child development. Regularly assess educational quality and individual child progress in partnership with teaching staff. 3. Family Engagement and Enrollment Build and maintain strong relationships with parents and guardians, fostering trust and open communication. Oversee enrollment, orientation, and retention strategies to maintain full program capacity. Support and manage family participation in the Maryland State Child Care Scholarship Program , including documentation, billing, and compliance. 4. Health, Safety, and Licensing Compliance Ensure full compliance with COMAR (Code of Maryland Regulations) governing child care centers. Maintain accurate and up-to-date staff and personnel files , including background checks, training records, health documents, and qualifications. Develop and monitor individualized Professional Development Plans for all staff. Implement safety and emergency procedures and conduct regular drills. Promote and maintain a clean, safe, and nurturing environment. 5. Financial and Administrative Oversight Develop and manage the center's operating budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with goals. Administer the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) , ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with USDA guidelines. Utilize Procare or similar child care management software for attendance tracking, tuition billing, family communication, and reporting. 6. Professional Development and Industry Engagement Stay informed on early childhood education trends, licensing changes, and best practices. Coordinate ongoing training opportunities to meet state-mandated requirements and support staff growth. Encourage and model continuous learning and professional excellence. 7. Communication and Community Collaboration Maintain clear, proactive communication with staff, families, and stakeholders. Represent the center in community events, partnerships, and local initiatives. Cultivate relationships with schools, organizations, and early education networks to enhance center offerings. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Early Childhood Education , Child Development , or a related field ( Master's preferred ). Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a leadership or administrative role in a licensed child care or early learning center. Proven ability to manage a team and maintain a collaborative, inclusive work culture. Demonstrated knowledge of COMAR regulations , including maintaining staff files , personnel records , and professional development plans . Experience with Frog Street curriculum implementation and evaluation. Proficiency with Procare or similar child care management software systems. Experience administering CACFP and working with the Maryland State Child Care Scholarship Program . Strong understanding of child development , curriculum planning, and early learning environments. Excellent organizational, financial, and time-management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a customer service mindset. Commitment to high standards in child safety, care, and education.
