Jul 1, 2027 Job Description The Rockwood School District is seeking an outstanding administrator for the position of Director of Early Childhood Education.
POSITION SUMMARY
Supports the mission of the district by leading and coordinating the implementation of the programs which comprise the Early Childhood Preschool, Parents as Teachers, and Early Childhood Special Education Departments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ensure the implementation and management of all programs in the Early Childhood, Parents as Teachers, and Early Childhood Special Education departments according to state, district, and department philosophies and guidelines Prepare the annual operating budget recommendations and monitors the implementation of the Board approved budget Lead the program supervisors in the work of selecting, assigning, transferring, counseling, administering, and dismissing employees Provide leadership role in curriculum planning and inservice education for the professional staff Provide leadership to the effective operation of the program Plan and implement appropriate budgets (i.e., grants and operating budgets) Participate in the interview process for all administrative positions as appropriate Select, supervise, and evaluate the program supervisors Coordinate the work of administrative staff members, provides counsel, coaching, and motivation Play a significant leadership role in fostering professional growth and building of staff morale throughout the department Establish necessary procedures for referral and cooperative planning within the department programs and with other "service to children" agencies Prepare state reports as required Serve as liaison with social, professional, civic, volunteer, and other community agencies and groups having an interest in early childhood education Demonstrate commitment, participates, and leads in professional development Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent Supervision of Elementary Education Attend and lead various meetings, including evenings and weekends
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to attend and lead various meetings, including evenings and weekends Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of clienteles, including district personnel regarding Board of Education Goals, Mission and Vision, and Strategic Decision Ability to demonstrate respect and sensitivity to the individual needs of families Ability to effectively manage a department with multiple programs and locations by giving direction and leading continuous improvement efforts Ability to judge when situations and/or information should be called to the attention of the supervisor Ability to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds Ability to work collaboratively with children, families, department staff, other district personnel and the community Ability to work in a variety of locations and travel throughout the district Calm demeanor for dealing with the needs of students Knowledge of IEP and 504 processes Knowledge of staffing requirements Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills Physical stamina to handle challenging work schedule Respect for student, teachers, parents, and support staff Sound judgment on sensitive issues Strong knowledge of Early Childhood and Early Childhood Special Education needs
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
Master's degree in Educational Administration Missouri Special Education certification is required Missouri certificate as a Special Education Administrator Three to five years' experience involving educational leadership, decision making, management, and long-range planning Successful school administration and supervision experience Three years' successful experience as a classroom teacher Consistent and regular attendance is required
