Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced SACC & Preschool Director to lead our early childhood education programs with passion and strategic vision. In this vital leadership role, you will oversee the daily operations of our School-Age Child Care (SACC) and preschool programs (UPK and YMCA Preschool), ensuring a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children while maintaining compliance with all regulatory standards. Your energetic leadership will inspire staff, foster community relationships, and drive continuous improvement in educational quality. This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape early childhood education experiences and promote childhood development through innovative curriculum development, effective management, and strategic planning. Duties Lead and manage high-quality before-school care and after-school learning and enrichment programs across all program sites. Develop, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate curriculum aligned with LEAPS and NYS UPK requirements, YMCA priorities, school goals, and student needs. After School curriculum frameworks, monthly themes, lesson-planning expectations, and activity resources that include academic support, literacy, STEM, arts, physical activity, social-emotional learning, and leadership development. Train and coach staff in classroom management, student engagement, conflict resolution, de-escalation, restorative practices, and developmentally appropriate behavior guidance. Recruit, train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate qualified program staff; ensure adequate coverage and clear accountability for performance, safety, and program quality. Maintain a regular and visible presence at school locations and the YMCA to support staff, monitor program quality, and address operational needs. Ensure compliance with OCFS regulations, LEAPS requirements, YMCA policies, child abuse prevention standards, confidentiality, emergency procedures, NYS Curriculum and licensing expectations. Compile and use attendance, enrollment, student engagement, family feedback, staffing, and outcome data to evaluate effectiveness and guide program improvement. Develop and manage the annual program budget, staffing plan, enrollment goals, and grant requirements. Collaborate with school districts and community organizations to identify student needs, strengthen educational opportunities, and complement the school-day experience. Represent the Fulton Family YMCA at school, community, and networking events and support enrollment, family engagement, visibility, and program growth. Work and remain available during program hours, including approximately 6:45-6:00 p.m., and attend required meetings and training. Experience Bachelor's degree in Education, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Educational Leadership, Special Education, Social Work, or a related field strongly preferred. A comparable combination of education and relevant experience may be considered. Min of 18 credit hours in childhood related field. Minimum of two years of experience in school-age education, after-school programming, youth development, or a related educational setting. Minimum of one year of staff supervision or program leadership experience, preferably across multiple classrooms or sites. Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, classroom management, student behavior support, staff coaching, and program evaluation. $26.00 - $30.00 per hour
