Exempt The Assistant Director supports the day-to-day and overall operations of the early childhood education program, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines. Under the supervision of the Center Director, s/he ensures the staff provides the best possible learning and care experience for the children in our programs and markets the facility and our programs. Depending on staffing ratios, the Assistant Director may need to function in any capacity within the facility, including filling in as interim director or a classroom teacher or performing administrative duties. S/he must have an excellent understanding of childcare management and early education. Responsibilities Center Administration
Works with Center Director to develop plans to improve or maintain full enrollment at center. Conduct tours with potential families and meets with family's pre-enrollment in the director's absence.
Oversees and maintains business-enabled technologies to facilitate student enrollments, transfers and withdrawals.
Maintains and submits all administrative records and reports including tuition, scholarship, center attendance, CACFP meal count and attendance records, timesheets, child health records, child progress summaries, ASQs and IEPs, staff and child accident/incident reports, and family contact information.
Ensures all DHS regulated paperwork is completed and filed in a timely manner.
Maintains all documents required by DHS and STARS files on all teachers
Completes monthly and annual reports and billing for Keystone Stares, DHS, CACFP, ITCS, PKC, CCIS and scholarships. Compliance and Safety
Responsible for carrying out health, safety and child supervision policies and procedures. Ensures that staff is trained and equipped in compliance with regulations and are meeting and exceeding DHS and Keystone STARS standards.
Conducts classroom inspections every three months to ensure DHS compliance.
Develops classroom coverage schedules to ensure ratios are met; assists with center staff coverage and works in classroom as needed. Staff Management Establish effective staff relationships based on mutual respect and clear communication.
Works with Center Director to ensure that new employees and volunteers receive timely and effective orientation.
Coaches teachers in a collaborative manner to ensure that classroom goals and objectives are clear, consistent and developmentally appropriate. Other Duties
Maintains confidentiality in regard to children, staff and families.
Attends family meetings and supports extracurricular activities of the center and organization.
Abides by the Third Street Alliance and NAEYC Codes of Conduct. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.
5 years of direct professional experience in early childhood setting.
High energy.
Strong oral and written communication skills; technology skills.
Ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
A strong understanding of child development.
Strong, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Infant/child CPR and First Aid Certification.
Must clear full background check.
Must pass health screening. Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in child development, early care and education, business or related field.
Center Director credential.
Pay:
$50,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
