Job Description

North Bay Children's Center seeks a Head Teacher I to lead a high-quality early childhood classroom serving diverse children and families. The Head Teacher I plans and implements developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum that supports social-emotional, cognitive, and language growth. Responsibilities include observing and documenting child progress, maintaining safe, nurturing routines, and integrating nutrition and health practices. The role mentors assistant staff, partners closely with families, and collaborates with specialists to ensure inclusion. The Head Teacher I participates in professional development, supports licensing and compliance, and contributes to a positive, mission-driven center culture. Responsibilities Plan and implement developmentally appropriate early childhood curriculum Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment Observe, assess, and document children's growth and learning Communicate regularly and partner with families on child progress Supervise, coach, and mentor assistant teachers and support staff Ensure compliance with licensing, health, and safety regulations Integrate nutrition and health practices into daily routines Collaborate with specialists and community partners as needed Participate in professional development and continuous improvement Contribute to a positive, mission-driven center culture Required Skills Early childhood curriculum planning Child development and assessment Classroom management Family engagement and communication Health, safety, and licensing compliance Inclusive and trauma-informed practices Bilingual communication (preferred) Staff supervision and mentorship Documentation and record-keeping Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
