Position Summary El Dorado Christian Preschool is seeking a full-time Preschool Director who will also carry part-time classroom teaching responsibilities. This role oversees the day-to-day operation and Title 22 licensing compliance of the program while remaining actively engaged with children in the classroom. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can manage staff and operations and still love teaching. Director Duties Oversee daily operations of the preschool and ensure full compliance with California Title 22 Community Care Licensing regulations. Maintain all required licensing records, staff files, child files, and health/safety documentation. Supervise, schedule, support, and evaluate teaching and support staff. Manage enrollment, family communication, tours, and admissions. Ensure required teacher-to-child ratios are maintained at all times. Oversee curriculum planning and program quality. Serve as the primary liaison with licensing analysts, parents, and church/school leadership. Manage program budget, supplies, and facility readiness. Teaching Duties Provide direct instruction and supervision in the classroom on a part-time basis. Plan and deliver age-appropriate, faith-integrated learning activities. Maintain a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. Observe, assess, and document children's development and communicate with families. Qualifications — Director (must meet one of the following paths) Standard path : High school diploma or GED, plus 15 semester units total — 12 postsecondary ECE/child development units (including the 3 core units: child/human growth and development, child/family/community, and program/curriculum) and 3 units in administration or staff relations — plus at least 4 years of teaching experience in a licensed child care center or comparable group child care program. Associate degree path : An Associate of Arts degree with a major or emphasis in early childhood education or child development, plus 3 units in administration or staff relations and at least 2 years of teaching experience in a licensed or comparable group child care program. Bachelor's degree path : A Bachelor's degree with a major or emphasis in early childhood education or child development, plus 3 units in administration or staff relations and at least 1 year of teaching experience in a licensed or comparable group child care program. Permit path : A valid Child Development Program Director Permit or Site Supervisor Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Note:
Because there is no partial-unit start option for the Director role under Title 22, all director qualification requirements must be fully met prior to hire. Background & Health Requirements Criminal background clearance through the Department of Justice and FBI (Live Scan fingerprinting) prior to employment. Child Abuse Central Index (CACI) clearance. Current health screening and tuberculosis (TB) clearance. Immunization records as required by California licensing (measles, pertussis, and influenza per current requirements). Current pediatric CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). 15 hours of health and safety training as required by licensing. Willingness to integrate faith-based curriculum and model Christian character in the classroom and workplace.
