Yesterday Job Description Reports to: Learning Connection Program Coordinator Hours per week: 4 hours per week. All positions are temporary, part-time and this position may be shared among highly qualified applicants. Employment is not guaranteed for any specific amount of time as the program runs through grant monies. Due to the dependence of the grants and the part time nature of this employment, there is no health care benefits or paid vacation time. There are no employee benefits, and Learning Connection staff members are not eligible for unemployment benefits when the grant funding ends. Reports to: Learning Connection Program Coordinator
Credentials and Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Health, or Human Service. Must attain the National Family Support Certification within one year of hire.
Expectations and Desired Competencies:
Effective early childhood teachers genuinely like children and are able to build good relationships with them. They have wide knowledge of normal infant and child development, early childhood environments, and learning theories, and seek the use of professional development opportunities. They are culturally competent and create a climate of discovery for both parents and children when planning and implementing educational curriculum for children from birth to kindergarten enrollment. Early childhood teachers have good observation skills and can identify potential problems, disabilities, or developmental delays. They have the knowledge and skill to refer children and families for further screening and assessment when necessary. They are able to train and guide classroom aides, parents and volunteers.
Job Duties:
1. Assist in the identification and recruitment of families eligible for services. 2. Conduct the child portion of the parent education classes using Creative Curriculum. 3. Record and compile information needed for grant reporting and evaluation purposes. 4. Collect required data as required by the program and grant policies and procedures. 5. Participate in appropriate training opportunities as needed or directed. 6. Arrive to class in time to set up and to greet each family as they arrive to the class. 7. Leave the classroom clean and neat, following all procedures for closing up the building. 8. Model during the class appropriate ways to communicate and interact with young children. 9. Any such duties as deemed necessary for the positive promotion of the Learning Connection Program.
