Overview Whimsy Kids is seeking a fun-loving, enthusiastic and knowledgeable lead teacher for our boutique Reggio Emilia inspired preschool in the heart of Frederick, Md. Join our vibrant early childhood education team as a Preschool Lead Teacher, where your passion for nurturing young minds will inspire a lifelong love of learning. You will lead classroom activities, develop engaging curricula, and foster a safe, inclusive environment that promotes growth and curiosity. Your expertise will help shape the foundational skills of our preschoolers heading to kindergarten, setting them up for success in their educational journey. We are dedicated to empowering educators who are positive and passionate about early childhood development and eager to make a positive impact every day. Responsibilities Design and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and incorporate literacy education, math, physical education, and play-based methods. Create a nurturing classroom environment that supports social-emotional learning, behavior management, and child welfare. Lead daily classroom activities, ensuring each child's individual needs are met through tailored instruction and early intervention strategies. Collaborate with families to communicate progress, address concerns, and promote active engagement in their child's learning experience. Manage classroom routines efficiently while maintaining high standards of safety and cleanliness in accordance with childcare regulations. Support children's physical development through age-appropriate activities such as teaching physical education and provide guidance. Participate in ongoing professional development related to childhood development, special education, standardized testing, and innovative teaching practices and literacy education. Maintain a fun classroom environment and warm and positive parent interactions. Experience 90hr MSDE Child Development and Preschool Curriculum Certification Proven classroom management experience within early childhood education settings, including preschool or daycare environments Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, lesson planning, and working with children across various developmental stages Experience working with children requiring special education or early intervention services is highly desirable Strong communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, colleagues, and community partners Prior involvement in private school settings or daycare programs Familiarity with engaging children in play-based learning and kindergarten readiness for young learners Knowledge of childhood development principles, behavior management strategies, and best practices in toddler care and preschool teaching methods

$18.50 - $23.00 per hour
