Job Description

The Assistant Director works closely with the Preschool Director to execute the vision and maintain the warm tone set for our children, families, and teachers. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter who excels at organization, manages administrative tasks with precision, and communicates beautifully with families. In this role, you will lead the enrollment process and ensure our school runs seamlessly, maintaining a collaborative spirit within our leadership structure.
Primary Responsibilities & Duties Enrollment, Outreach & Families Manage Admissions Pipeline:
Act as the primary point of contact for prospective families, conducting center tours and handling outreach to potential new families.
Waitlist Management:
Actively maintain, organize, and update the student waitlist to optimize class capacities.
Enrollment Coordination:
Guide families through the enrollment process, managing student files, collecting registration paperwork, and assisting with tuition reduction program applications.
Family Engagement:
Assist in providing multiple opportunities for family engagement and maintain clear, timely, and responsive communication with parents.
Administration, Compliance & ECECD Regulatory Compliance:
Maintain meticulous physical and digital records to ensure full compliance with ECECD 5-star focus licensing and NM PreK requirements.
State Portals & Documentation:
Help manage state required databases, tracking child care assistance, state site reporting, health records, and immunization forms.
Operational Policies:
Assist the Director in implementing policies and procedures that meet regulatory requirements and promote safe, healthy, and efficient daily operations.
Staff Coordination & Classroom Support Scheduling & Coverage:
Organize daily school schedules, coordinate substitute teachers, and step into classrooms for coverage when necessary to ensure mandated ratios.
Staff Onboarding Support:
Assist the Director with processing background clearances, onboarding documentation, and setting up initial training for new staff.
Supervision:
Help supervise, manage, and support teaching staff and classroom volunteers in maintaining a safe learning environment.
Financial & Other Duties Transaction Tracking:
Assist in tracking day-to-day preschool financial transactions (e.g., supply receipts, family billing accounts) to support the Director's budget reporting.
Handbook Compliance:
Fulfill all other duties as defined in the Employee Handbook or assigned by the Director to ensure smooth school operations.
Minimum Qualifications Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the early childhood education field.
Education & Credentials:
Minimum of a Child Development Certificate (CDC) or a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
State Clearances:
Current ECECD background clearance (or ability to successfully pass a mandatory New Mexico ECECD criminal background check and fingerprint clearance upon hire).
Certifications:
Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
Skills:
Strong organizational skills, proficiency with technology (childcare management apps, Google Workspace, or MS Office), and excellent collaborative skills.

$50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
