The teacher plans and delivers engaging, play-based instruction aligned with the New York State Prekindergarten Learning Standards, fostering students' cognitive, language, social-emotional, physical, and creative development. Through hands-on learning experiences, the teacher encourages curiosity, independence, collaboration, and a lifelong love of learning while maintaining a well-managed classroom and monitoring student growth through ongoing assessment. Duties Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with early childhood education standards, including literacy, math, physical education, and Montessori methods where applicable Create a safe, inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive behavior management and child welfare Facilitate age-appropriate activities that support cognitive, social-emotional, physical, and language development Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and developmental milestones Maintain accurate records of student assessments, standardized testing results, and individualized education plans (IEPs) for children requiring special education or early intervention services Ensure compliance with mandated reporting laws and maintain a secure environment following health and safety protocols Collaborate with colleagues to plan interdisciplinary lessons and participate in ongoing professional development in areas like toddler care, childhood development, and classroom management Qualifications Prior experience working with children in preschool or daycare settings, with demonstrated classroom experience in early childhood education Knowledge of curriculum development techniques and literacy education strategies Familiarity with special education practices, early intervention programs, and behavior management techniques Strong communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, colleagues, and community partners Experience teaching physical education or tutoring young children is advantageous Bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred; relevant coursework or certifications in childhood development highly valued Join us to help shape the future by providing young learners with the foundational skills they need to succeed!
