Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking an Early Childhood Educator to inspire young minds and foster a nurturing learning environment for children ages 8 and under in a Family Literacy Program. In this role, you will design engaging lesson plans, implement age-appropriate activities, work on developmental milestones or school-readiness skills, and support children's social, emotional, and cognitive growth. Your enthusiasm and expertise will help create a positive classroom atmosphere where children (and their parents/caregivers) feel safe, valued, and excited to learn. This position offers an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact on early childhood development. Responsibilities Write lesson plans for children from birth to age 8 Create a stimulating classroom environment that promotes exploration, creativity, and learning across subjects such as literacy, math, physical education, and social skills Manage classroom behavior using positive reinforcement techniques and effective behavior management strategies Conduct child development assessments to monitor progress and adapt teaching methods accordingly Share parent education topics with caregivers Communicate regularly with the executive director, parents and caregivers about children's progress, milestones, and any concerns Ensure compliance with mandated reporting laws related to child welfare and safety regulations Maintain accurate records of lesson plans, attendance, assessments, and incident reports in accordance with licensing standards Skills Preferred Strong knowledge of early childhood education principles, including childhood development and preschool teaching methodologies, NELP Predictors and the PA Early Childhood Learning Standards Experience working with children in daycare or classroom settings, including toddler care and preschool environments Proficiency in lesson planning and implementing educational activities that support literacy education and math skills Excellent communication skills for engaging with children, parents, colleagues, and community partners Ability to manage classroom dynamics effectively while fostering a safe and inclusive atmosphere Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification to ensure child safety at all times Understanding of child welfare policies, mandated reporting laws, and best practices in childcare settings Join us in shaping the future by nurturing young learners through innovative teaching practices!
