Classroom Teaching Full Job Description Mission:
Mount Olympus Christian Child Development Center exists to provide high-quality, developmentally appropriate childcare with a Christian emphasis to members of the community.
Philosophy:
To provide children with an opportunity to grow and learn in a nurturing, Christian environment. As a vital part of our community, MOCCDC is both a service and a ministry. Our learning environments are conducive to fun, exploration, discovery, and security while following developmentally appropriate guidelines.
Hours:
  • 2:00pm-6:00pm
Mon-Fri Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Working as our 2 Year-old class closer
  • Arrive on time for scheduled shifts and follow time-off procedures
  • Support and act in accordance with our program's mission statements
  • Know and follow all licensing rules and regulations
  • Complete at least twenty hours of Early Childhood training per year
  • Work with other team members by sharing goals, plans, and information with necessary support staff and substitutes
  • Attend and learn from scheduled in-services and staff meetings
  • Share needed information in a timely manner with management and/or parents in order to intervene/prevent unhealthy behaviors of children and/or families
  • Report and record any signs or symptoms of child abuse to management and/or
DCFS Family Relations:
  • Establish a positive relationship with each child's family
  • Develop a positive relationship with each child to promote and maintain self-esteem and self-disciple
  • Ensure smooth transitions from home and classroom by communicating effectively with families and other teachers and addressing each child's individual needs
Classroom:
  • Maintain a clean, organized, attractive, and safe classroom and facility
  • Provide a developmentally enriching classroom setting
  • Adjust and improve the learning environment according to your students' needs and abilities
  • Follow lesson plans and schedule provided by the lead teacher
  • Maintain appropriate behavioral and discipline techniques (See MOCCDC Discipline and Behavioral Manual)
Physical Requirements:
  • Walk and be on feet for most of the day
  • Grasp, handle and feel objects, tools, or controls
  • Stand, sit, kneel, bend, crouch, squat, crawl, and get up from floor
  • Lift and carry up to 25 pounds and in the event of an emergency a 40-pound child
Additional Requirements:
All employees must function as role models to the children. Each team member must be emotionally stable enough to demonstrate appropriate behavior, expression of emotions, and suitably react to children who misbehave. Aggression, animosity, and/or excessive or improper physical actions, as well as inappropriate emotional expression, are not acceptable. Because MOCCDC is a Christian-based program, staff members must be able to share their love for Christ. This includes but is not limited to: being a Christ-like example for the children and families, praying with children, and teaching basic Bible lessons. The individual in this position may be required to assist or do other tasks that are not listed in this job description.
Pay:
$15.50 - $18.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 per week
