Position:
Literacy Enrichment Teacher BASES (Before and After School Extended Services)
Location:
Vogel Wetmore School, Torrington, CT Hours:
3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. 1.5 hrs/week (day TBD) 1 hour onsite plus 1/2 hour off-site planning time
Job Description:
EdAdvance is seeking a certified Elementary School Teacher for our BASES (Before and After School Extended Services) After School Program at Vogel Wetmore School, Torrington, CT. The ideal candidate is a dedicated professional, with proven experience working with elementary-aged children. This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to design and lead engaging activities for students in grades K-5. Operating as the Literacy Enrichment Teacher, you will develop programming for after-school hours (3:30 pm-5:30 pm) under the direct supervision of the BASES Administrative Team.
Major Responsibilities:
Coordinate with the Site Coordinator and BASES Administrative Team on timelines and activities to meet grant requirements Supervise children and provide a safe, welcoming environment Understand, follow, and maintain all licensing regulations set by the state of CT Office of Early Childhood Maintain positive relationships with families, children, and school personnel Implement grant-funded literacy enrichment within existing after school program Align state standards for literacy curriculum between district and after school program Attend mandatory meetings as scheduled (usually evenings) Assist with data collection as required by the grant Other duties as may be assigned Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this position
Qualifications:
Valid Elementary Connecticut Teacher Certification Required Bachelor's Degree in education required, Literacy focus preferred Proven experience working with elementary school-aged children High degree of energy and enthusiasm for working in a well rounded after school program setting Knowledge of Child Development Awareness of Age-Appropriate curriculum activities Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand for the entire shift and move through program space (indoor and outdoor) with students.
