This part-time salaried position offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact by helping students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 develop the literacy skills and confidence they need. Working in partnership with class teachers, families, administrators, and the Educational Support Team, the Reading Specialist provides individualized and small-group reading intervention tailored to each student's needs. Responsibilities include conducting literacy screenings, developing Reading Improvement Monitoring Plans (RIMPs), delivering evidence-based reading instruction, monitoring student progress, and supporting students in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, comprehension, spelling, vocabulary, and written language. The Reading Specialist also collaborates with faculty to strengthen literacy instruction while honoring the developmental principles of Waldorf education. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's degree in Education, Reading, Literacy, Special Education, or a related field and has at least two years of experience supporting students with diverse literacy needs. Experience with literacy assessment, evidence-based intervention practices, and structured literacy approaches such as Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading, Barton, or similar methodologies is highly desirable. Reading Specialist certification, Waldorf training, and experience supporting students with language-based learning differences are preferred.
