Overview Our reading center in Latrobe, PA is seeking a dedicated Reading Specialist or experienced reading teacher to provide one-on-one reading intervention for students in grades K through 8. This is an in-person, after-school role for someone who is skilled at diagnosing each reader's needs and designing engaging, individualized instruction that helps struggling readers make real progress.
Details Pay:
$25 per hour (independent contractor, 1099)

Approximately 8 to 15 per week, afternoons/early evenings

In person at our reading center in Latrobe, PA Start date: As soon as possible Responsibilities Deliver individualized, evidence-based reading intervention matched to each student's needs. Administer and interpret comprehensive initial and ongoing reading assessments to plan instruction and monitor progress. Design and deliver engaging, creative lessons. Maintain session notes and communicate progress with families. Requirements PA teaching certificate; Reading Specialist certification preferred. Experience teaching reading, with the ability to teach phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Skill in motivating reluctant readers. Experience working with readers in grades K through 8, including students with learning differences; comfort with accommodations and modifications. Ability to use assessment data to guide instruction and track progress. Strong communication skills with students and families. Experience teaching writing is a plus. Current PA clearances (Act 34, Act 151, and FBI fingerprint) required before the first session. We're looking for someone who Is excited about teaching reading and enjoys being around children. Is willing to create their own materials and bring fresh ideas. Delivers engaging, creative lessons that keep students motivated. Materials The center provides some curriculum and assessment tools.
