Butler Academy | Hartsville, SC Part-Time | One Afternoon Class Daily This position prior middle, high, or post-secondary teaching experience. Great speakers aren't simply born. They're taught how to find their voice, organize their thoughts, read a room, and communicate with confidence. At Butler Academy, we want our scholars to learn to do more than give a presentation for a grade. We want them to become thoughtful, persuasive communicators who can stand in front of a classroom, an interview panel, a college audience, or a room full of strangers and know that what they have to say matters. Butler Academy is seeking an Adjunct High School Speech Teacher to teach one afternoon class each school day . This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced English, communications, or speech educator who enjoys teaching but is not looking for a traditional full-time classroom position. What You'll Do Teach a high school speech/public speaking course focused on helping scholars develop confidence and competence in oral communication. Instruction should include speech organization and delivery, audience awareness, effective use of language, research and evidence, persuasive and informative speaking, listening skills, and constructive peer feedback. Most importantly, you'll create a classroom where scholars actually speak . They should have frequent opportunities to present, discuss, debate, practice, receive feedback, revise, and try again. What You'll Need Experience teaching English at the middle school, high school, or post-secondary level is required Bachelor's degree required Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to engage and build relationships with high school scholars Comfort providing direct, actionable feedback on scholars' speaking and presentation skills A strong belief in the potential of every scholar Experience teaching speech, communications, debate, English, or a related course is preferred Schedule This is a part-time adjunct position requiring one afternoon class each school day, around 1:45 PM - 3:30 PM. The position does not require a full school-day commitment. $1,000.00 - $2,000.00 per month
